Anti Wrinkle

Anti wrinkle treatment being performed on forehead

What are Anti Wrinkle Injections?

Commonly known as Botulinum toxin, this prescription only medication is administered into the facial and neck muscles. It works by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles, reducing their ability to contract, which helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

In addition to its aesthetic benefits, Botulinum toxin is also used to treat various medical conditions, including excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), an overactive master muscle (for jaw slimming or teeth grinding), a gummy smile caused by overactive lip muscles, and even to alleviate the symptoms of migraines.

A consultation with our in-house doctor or nurse is required prior to this treatment

Forehead & Frown Lines

To minimise the appearance of lines and wrinkles, treatment is commonly focused on the glabella complex (frown lines) and frontalis muscles (forehead lines), helping to create a smoother, more refreshed look.

Crows Feet

To reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles around the eyes, treatment targets the orbicularis oculi muscle.

Under eye

Under-eye treatments involve superficial injections designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, helping to refresh and rejuvenate the delicate skin in this area.

Chin

Targeting the mentalis muscle helps to smooth the appearance of chin dimpling and reduce the horizontal line that can form across the chin, resulting in a more relaxed and refined lower face.

Gummy smile

Relaxing an overactive levator labii superioris muscle on either side of the nostrils can reduce the visibility of gum tissue when smiling, commonly referred to as a ‘gummy smile’.

Bunny Lines

Treatment can also be used to relax an overactive nasalis muscle, helping to reduce the appearance of ‘bunny lines’ on either side of the nose.

Masseter Muscle

Treatment of the masseter muscle helps to relax and limit the movement of the chewing muscles. This can provide relief from teeth grinding (bruxism) and, over time, contribute to facial slimming by softening the jawline for a more contoured profile.

Hyperhidrosis

Botulinum toxin can be highly effective in reducing excessive sweating in the underarms, hands, and feet, providing long-lasting dryness and enhanced comfort.

What are the benefits of anti-wrinkle injections

Treat excessive sweating

Hyperhidrosis is a medical term for excessive sweating, commonly affecting areas such as the armpits, palms of the hands, and feet. Botulinum toxin is administered through a series of injections to block the signals that activate the sweat glands, helping to reduce excessive sweating.

Brow lift

Botulinum toxin offers an effective, non-surgical brow lift by relaxing the eye muscles that contract and pull inward. This subtly lifts the eyebrows, reduces the appearance of upper eyelid hoods, and helps keep the eyes more open and refreshed. If you’re prone to heaviness in this area, we can offer a brow lift alongside other areas to prevent the “heaviness” that can occur when treating the forehead muscles.

Take years off

Botulinum toxin is not a cure, but it is commonly used as a preventative treatment to soften the appearance of dynamic wrinkles- those that appear with facial movement. With regular treatment, it can help prevent static lines (permanent wrinkles) from forming. It also serves a restorative purpose, by reducing the visibility of deeper lines, giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Botulinum toxin injections may cause slight discomfort, but we can apply numbing cream prior to the procedure upon request. Many of our patients report that the treatment is less painful than they expected.
Yes, Botulinum toxin is generally considered safe when administered by a trained and experienced professional. Like any medical treatment, there are potential risks, but these are rare and typically mild.
Botox works by blocking the nerves and muscles in the treated area. When injected into specific facial muscles, it temporarily relaxes them, preventing them from contracting.

The muscle may begin to regain a small amount of movement after about 6-8 weeks. However, significant muscle activity typically returns over the course of 3 to 6 months, as the effects of Botox gradually wear off.

Regular treatments can help maintain the results.

You may notice visible results within 3 to 5 days, with full effects appearing in 7 to 14 days after treatment.

A two-week review is included to ensure you have achieved your desired results and to make any necessary adjustments.

Injectable procedures are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as a precautionary measure to prioritize the safety of both the mother and the baby.
To prepare for your treatment, avoid taking blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin or ibuprofen) a few days before, refrain from alcohol and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours prior, take Arnica tablets up to 5 days before to reduce bruising, arrive with a clean face free from makeup, lotions, or oils, and inform your practitioner if you have any cold sores, especially if you’re having treatment around the lip area.
Suitability for treatment will be assessed during your consultation. Our practitioner will evaluate your medical history, skin condition, and specific concerns to determine the most appropriate treatment for you. We ensure that all treatments are tailored to your individual needs and safety.
Botox can be used to soften the appearance of deep wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles, but in some cases, additional treatments may be recommended for more pronounced wrinkles.

Common side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or mild discomfort at the injection site. Other potential complications, though uncommon, can include:

  • Droopy eyelids (ptosis): This occurs when the botulinum toxin spreads beyond the intended area and temporarily weakens the muscles responsible for lifting the eyelid.
  • Asymmetry: In some cases, results may not be symmetrical, which can be corrected with additional treatment.
  • Headache or flu-like symptoms: A small percentage of patients may experience headaches or mild flu-like symptoms after the procedure.
  • Allergic reactions: Though rare, some individuals may experience an allergic reaction to the Botox, including itching, rash, or swelling.

Our experienced practitioners will thoroughly assess your medical history and discuss any potential risks during your consultation to ensure you are fully informed and comfortable with the procedure.
